Privacy policy

Esplainly runs on your own computer, so there is very little to tell. You open an account, and that is about it. Here is the whole of it.

Last updated 11 August 2026

Your videos never leave your computer

The script, the narration, the pictures and the finished file are made on your machine. There is no upload, no queue and no copy on any server of ours. We could not watch your videos if we wanted to.

There is no analytics in the app. No telemetry, no usage tracking, no crash reporting, no advertising pixels. None on this website either, which is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to ask you about.

Your projects, settings and logs stay on your machine as well. So do your API keys, which Windows holds in the Credential Manager, and your activation, which Windows encrypts and ties to that computer. We have no way to read any of it remotely.

What we hold

What any shop holds, and nothing else: your email address, your name if you gave one, your password stored as a hash so nobody here can read it, your licence and which computers it is on, and the record of what you paid. That is what an account needs in order to exist.

Your card details are typed on the payment provider's page and go to them. They never reach us. What comes back is the amount, the reference and whether it worked, which is the record we need in order to refund you.

This site sets a few cookies to keep you signed in and remember the currency you chose. None of them track you and none belong to anybody else. The shop runs on ordinary hosting, database and email services, some of them outside Nigeria, so your email address and your order sit on their servers. Your video never does. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.

What the app sends us

Every quarter of an hour or so, four things, so that we can count computers: your licence key, a code standing for your machine, the device label you chose, and the version number. The code is a one way hash of an identifier your computer already has, so we cannot work back from it, and it says nothing about your name or what is installed.

That is the complete list. The app never sends us your scripts, your pictures, your settings, your finished videos, or how much you use it.

What goes out only if you ask

Esplainly can talk to an AI provider, and only once you have pasted in your own key for it. A new install has no keys, and with no key it talks to nobody. The built in Windows voice works entirely offline.

The script provider you picked, one of Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic, receives the two things you are comparing and the length and style you chose. A voice provider, Google Cloud Text to Speech or ElevenLabs, receives one line at a time. None of it passes through us, and we never learn you made the request: that is your own account with them, under their privacy policy.

Write the script yourself, or paste one in, and nothing leaves your computer at all. Esplainly does not search the web for pictures either.

Asking for it, or asking us to delete it

Email support@explainly.site and we will tell you what we hold, send you a copy, correct anything wrong, or delete your account. No form, no charge.

Two things we will say before deleting rather than after. The record of a payment has to stay, because tax rules say so. And deleting your licence would mean you could never get your key back, so if that is what you want, say so plainly and we will do it.

Email about your purchase, your key and your password is not marketing and you get it either way. Anything else carries an unsubscribe link, and using it never affects your licence or your support. The terms of use and the refund policy sit alongside this page.
